This policy explains what personal data VantageSource ("we", "us") collects when you use this website, why we collect it, and your rights. We aim to keep this plain and honest.
Who we are

What we collect
- Newsletter sign-ups: your email address.
- Beta interest registrations: your email address and the details you choose to provide (the kind of business you're looking for, region, rough size, and how active your search is).
- Basic technical data: standard server and analytics information your browser sends when visiting (e.g. approximate location, device/browser type), used only to understand and improve the site.
Why we collect it (lawful basis)
- To send you our analysis and updates, on the basis of your consent, given when you submit the form. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.
- To contact you about early access if you register beta interest, on the basis of your consent and our legitimate interest in developing the product with interested users.
- To operate and improve the site, on the basis of our legitimate interests in running a functional, secure website.
How we store and process it
We use third-party providers to run the site and send email, including Brevo (email and contact management) and Cloudflare (hosting and security). Your data is processed by these providers on our behalf under their own data-protection terms. We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
Our analysis of business data
Separately from the details you give us, VantageSource analyses publicly available information about UK businesses, primarily from Companies House, to produce insights about which owner-managed businesses may be approaching a sale or succession. This may include information about the individuals who own or run those businesses, such as their role, tenure and approximate age, drawn from the public record.
We do this on the basis of our legitimate interests in providing a useful business-intelligence service, balanced against the rights of the individuals concerned. We work on the minimum information necessary to produce our insights, and we deliberately do not compile or display personal contact details (such as home addresses, personal phone numbers or personal email addresses).
Our insights are analytical and probabilistic. They are based on patterns across significant datasets, and every business is different and may be at a different stage. Our insights describe possibilities, not certainties, and they inform our users' own decisions and do not direct any specific course of action, and we do not contact business owners on our users' behalf.
If you are a business owner and want to know more or object
If you believe your information may feature in our analysis and you would like to know more, request a copy, or object to that processing, please contact us at hello@vantagesource.co.uk and we will respond. You can ask us to stop processing information relating to you, and to remove it from our analysis.
How long we keep it
We keep your subscriber details for as long as you remain subscribed or interested, and remove them on request or within a reasonable period after you unsubscribe. Analytical insights are refreshed against current public data, so outdated information does not persist indefinitely.
Your rights
Under UK data-protection law you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email hello@vantagesource.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Unsubscribing
Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. One click removes you from the list.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the business develops. The "last updated" date above will always reflect the current version.
